Cleanup & Restore Oceans, Rivers and Lakes
Marine Research Alliance will research, fund, develop/partner with marine scientific leaders worldwide in the Restoration and Filtration Cleanup of oceans, rivers and lakes.
This project will focus on removing biohazards like plastics, eliminating toxic dumping of waste and will restore the oceans, rivers and lakes back to a pristine state, so marine life can live and flourish again.
How we can help:
- Research, Fund and collaborate with marine scientists and organizations worldwide to find the most effective ways to cleanup these large garbage patches without harming the ecosystem.
- Provide Ships and equipment needed for cleanup of the debris utilizing the latest technology.
- Identify toxic dumping of waste into the waters and work with local governmental agencies to help prevent this.
- Research and fund ways for toxic waste to be disposed of safely.
- Research and fund recycling of plastics that are collected to be reused.
- Help improve public awareness by funding and supporting organizations that educate the public and organize beach clean ups.
The Importance of Preserving the Ocean
The ocean is essential to our lives and is a critical part of the Earth’s ecosystem. It covers 71% of the planet’s surface and provides half of the oxygen we breathe from phytoplankton in the ocean’s surface waters. It feeds more than 500 million people, contains 80% of the world’s lifeforms and produces half of our energy needs.
It regulates climate and helps keep us safe from natural disasters like tsunamis. Decades of over-fishing and pollution have caused serious damage to the oceans and marine life. The massive amount of plastic is polluting the entire water column with microplastics.
